Erwin was the commander of the Scout Regiment during the first three seasons of Attack on Titan. As a child, Erwin was intrigued by his father's theory that the royal family could erase memories and replace them with fake ones. He began talking about this theory to other students at school. After his father's death, Erwin dedicated his life to proving his father's theory was correct.
Erwin's inferior Fi first surfaces when he questions his past decisions. As a child, Erwin was naturally curious and asked many questions. He questioned the world around him and the world of work. His father avoided answering Erwin's questions during class. Despite his question, he still wanted to see the world for himself.
Erwin was sent to die by his nobles for a breach of the Charter of Humanity. After the court hears the case against him, he devises a plan to save his life and make him superior to the nobles. This plan allowed him to warn the nobles that Titans were breaking through the wall rose, and they would have to fight for food and land. The only people that would help them would be the Survey Corps.
